What Was The Inspiration Or Motivation In Starting Your Business?
E-Z Rental Center is a family business that started in 1967. My motivation was to be the second generation to take over the family business and continue its growth. My inspiration was my father, James Venable.
Did You Always Dream Of Becoming An Entrepreneur?
No. In my younger years, I just wanted a good job to support my family, but growing up in Southern Illinois in the late 70's and early 80's, there were not too many opportunities. Because of that, I decided to pursue the family business.
How Has Your Business Grown Over The Years?
Our business has grown exponentially over the years at a steady pace.
What Have You Done To Achieve Such Growth?
We have invested in and increased equipment categories that contractors and homeowners wanted and needed.
What Is One Piece Of Advice You Would Give To Aspiring Entrepreneurs?
Set your sites high, be aggressive, work your tail off and take risks. Learn every aspect of the business and be able to work in any role. Be your customer!
How Does Your Community Play A Role In Your Success?
Community, of course, is a big part of our success mainly because they are our customers. We also like to help and see our community succeed, which is why we like to make charitable contributions to our community whenever possible.
Why Did You Decide To Partner With Banterra?
We love the small-town banks, and we were customers of First Bank, initially. When Banterra Bank bought them out, we decided to continue with Banterra and we are glad we did.
